What is Skillwik?

Skillwik is a free Chrome extension that puts chess against the computer, Sudoku, 2048, Minesweeper, Ludo, Tic-tac-toe and a daily 5-letter word game in your browser toolbar. Every game saves as you play, runs on your device, works offline and has no ads. This website also has guided learning games for Chess, Sudoku and Mental Math.

Is Skillwik free, and do I need an account?

Yes, you can play every game for free with no ads. You do not need an account for your first 3 games. After that you create a free account with your email address and a one-time code, with no password. Skillwik Pro is an optional upgrade that is not open for purchase yet.

Does Skillwik work offline?

Yes. All the games, the chess engine and the word lists run inside the extension, so you can play without an internet connection. Only creating an account (once) and any future Pro purchase need a connection.

What chess levels can I play against the computer?

Skillwik has six computer levels: Beginner, Casual, Club, Strong, Expert and Master. The chess engine runs inside the extension, so the computer plays at the same strength every time, even offline. You can undo moves, flip the board and play as White or Black.

How do chess hints work in Skillwik?

You start each chess game with 3 hints, earn 1 more for every 10 moves you make, and can hold at most 5. Ask Arivu the owl and the suggested move is drawn on the board with a short explanation of the idea. The other games have hints that work the same way.

Can I review my chess games and learn opening traps?

Yes. After a game, the review marks every move from best to blunder, draws the better move on the board and explains each mistake. Trap Academy teaches 11 classic opening traps move by move, including Scholar's Mate, the Fried Liver Attack and the Elephant Trap, plus 12 mate in two puzzles and 9 five-move mate challenges.

Which games are included in Skillwik?

Chess against the computer, Sudoku (Easy, Medium, Hard and 30 stages), 2048 (classic, 30 stages and Merge Battle), Minesweeper (three sizes and 30 stages), Ludo (2 to 4 players), Tic-tac-toe (3x3, 5x5 and 7x7), a daily 5-letter word game called Word Duel, and Quick Games (Reflex Wars and Spot It First).

Does Skillwik collect my data?

Your games, scores and settings stay on your device. Skillwik receives your email address only if you create an account. Anonymous error reports are sent only if you turn on Send error reports in Settings, which is off by default. There are no ads, and the extension asks for one permission, storage, so it cannot see the pages you visit.

How much will Skillwik Pro cost and how do I cancel?

Paid plans are not open yet, and for now the Pro features are free to try. When they open, Pro will cost $4.99 a month or $49.90 a year (India: Rs 199 a month or Rs 1,990 a year, plus GST). You can try Pro free for 3 days with no card needed. To cancel, open Settings, then Plan, in the extension, or email info@skillwik.com. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. There are no 3-year or lifetime plans.

Does Skillwik work in Edge, Brave and other browsers?

Skillwik is a Chrome extension (Manifest V3) that uses only standard features and one permission. It should install from the Chrome Web Store in other Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi. It is tested on Google Chrome and does not run in Firefox or Safari.
